TRS pipes with "Wedges"?
#1
I have a pair of TRS stainless risers that are the Dry Offshore pipes. I would like to put these on my Bravo application and just run them through the transom but the mounting plate is a different angle. I have heard they make a "wedge" for just this situation. Does anyone have a pair of these?
Thanks,
Gordo

Gil makes them in different sizes depending on the angle change that you need.

I wound up doing this on a Formula 271, factory iron mercs used a 6" spacer. I had a set of Gil manifolds, long story short, I could not find pipes to fit. I wound up with risers that were to tall. I made a set of wedges tapering from about 1/4 to 1 1/4. They worked all last year, they do get hot enough to burn your skin.. The other problem with wedges is that the pipe run is now on an angle, I had tips in the transom so the tail pipe didnt go thru. My pipe were now to long and hit the tips because of the angle. I had to cut them and weld, I did it on an angle, just a short hose to couple the pipe to the tip works like a charm for me. It wasnt easy, if I didnt have a machine shop that I could make the wedges and cut and weld the stainless, I would not have done it. I was thinking of welding the wedge to the manifold, this way I would not need a gasket and the wedge would run cooler, anyone ever do that

Gil sells them, but I just made a set of my own. As I remember, the Gils were unavailable at the time.
Got some 1/4" aluminum. Had it milled to a wedge of the correct thickness. Then drilled the center out and 4 bolt holes.

Cuda,
No PM's for some time. If you sent one, I didn't get it.
OfftheFront,
Yup, looks just like those, except maybea little longer?
I have pics of them but I have still yet to master posting pics that are too big.

these pipes came within 3/4" of going thru the transom .... they go into the silent thunder box on my 311 ... we 5200'd rubber flappers onto the blue exhaust and slid that over the pipes ...also added the trim rings with the rubber gasket ring sealing the blue hose ... they have been on there a year with no problems .. I just pulled the motors and it all came out with no issues .....m
