I was looking at the hydraulic steering lines inside the rear of my boat and noticed that they were crossed. Does it mattter?

The lines on the outside are run the same as eachother so why wouldn't the ones inside need to be the same.

The lines should on the opposite places on the ram, lets say the port side ram should have the line closest to the transom be the same as the starboard side ram farthest from the transom and vice versa.

What ??? Because i'm an idiot lets review...

Here's a picture. They are the same on both sides. Top lines to same on rams and bottom to same on rams.

So my question are the inside lines being crossed right or wrong? I want to change them so they are paralell for rigging purposes but don't want to do it if they are supposed to be crossed for some hydraulic rotation of the earth reason.

In this picture the top line goes across and meets up with the lower fitting and the lower line crosses and meets up with the upper fitting.

Is this right or can I change it?

It's rigged right, since they come out of the transom and go to the same places than they have to be crossed inside. What you can do however is reverse them on one of the rams and reverse them inside the transom so they don't cross each other to make your rigging look nicer.
Comming off the pump you will have a line marked r and l. (left and right)
Lets say line r goes to the port side first, it will have to go to the inside part of the ram. When it gets to the starboard side it will need to be on the outside part of the ram. So it doesn't matter how you get them there, you can change the configuration inside or outside of the transom as long as the same line is inside on one ram, it will have to be outside on the other ram and vice versa.
Heres a picture of how you have them rigged, if you reversed them inside than you will have to reverse them on the starboard side ram. (click the picture and you can see it better)

So them being crossed inside is correct... Amazing, good thing I asked. What if I would have just figured they were wrong and changed them...

Then the drive would not move. The 2 rams would be working against each other. Remember, while 1 ram is extending, the other is retracting. So your putting fluid on opposite sides of the 2 rams. Which is why the lines are ran as they are on the inside.

Did you pull your motor with the drive still on?

Yes, the drive is still on the boat.

I see that from your picture. Was curious if you pulled the motor with drive still installed.
