Re: Question about GGB Mufflers
The biggest complaint on the GGB's is that they are too quiet at idle. Pulling the flappers out will fix this problem without making them too loud.
If you are running them dry you must remove the flappers. If you don't they will remove themselves in about a 1/4 mile! Dry systems are loud, period. If you add just a little water into the pipe just before the muffler you will get a huge reduction in dB's. |

I had to install "down tubes" to meet the 86 db Wisconsin law so now it blows bubbles in the water when at rest at 82db...But still sounds AWESOME once up on plane... :evilb: Doug |
Re: Question about GGB Mufflers
Doug,
I will have to perform a decibel test for comparision. I am also running KE's and transom mount GGB's with a single 540. Are you running the Extreme Series? 94 db at idle seems high. Russ |

Russ I am also running a water circulating pump...It seems that guys running crossovers have a bit more water flow which makes the exhaust quieter yet.... Doug |
Re: Question about GGB Mufflers
Boatally Insane,
I too will be trying to comply with the 86db in Wisconsin. Could you send me a picture of your "down tubes". Not sure how I'm going to quiet mine down..Please send a picture to [email protected] Thanks. Steve |

Will the GGB clamp ons fit this application. The dry headers and tails are Stellings. The water dumps at the end of the tail via one tube. Will the water drain and blow through the muffler without problem with water reverting?

Re: Question about GGB Mufflers
We've put them on lots of Stellings. The water will blow through the muffler but I can't tell you that you won't have reversion. You shouldn't but it will depend entirely on your motor set up.

I run the ggb clamp on extremes. I drilled holes around the inside of my tail pipes to let water enter at the mufflers. You can also cut a hole in the bottle of the ggb's to let the water exit below if you want totally dry pipes. They work very well. |
Re: Question about GGB Mufflers
My Stellings dump inside through 1 tube at the very end.
