How much HP/TQ will a GM Crank handle ?
No guessing . Engine builders how much HP/TQ can a GM crank take before it says goodby? 
The crank like what comes in a 500EFI..
I know detonation usually is what gets them or zinging them up, but what about HP or TQ .What's the limits ???
Thanks for any experience.....

I would say as much as these little shiney things can throw at them.Like to see them someday.Strip what P.R. are you doing these year ?

I have been considering converting my carb quadrotors to EFI. But now I think I may wait for Dustin to finish up with his new whipple. I would bring my motors down to Mark for the conversion and have him do the EFI, dyno and tuning. What do you think.

Yea we ran the boat and turned it up and within no time we where hitting 6000 rpms.turned it back down and it was still building power at the 6000.Called Dustin and he said they raised the rev upto 6150 and it won't go over 6200.I don't know if a 525 will hold together at those rpms.He said to set it up when cool out to turn 6000 so when its hot out it will turn about 5800.What do you think.We'll be trying 3 more sets of props this weekend and a spacer and sportmasters next week.

I personally know people who regularly turn Stock 502 bottem ends 6500 in their boat with no problems..... 
The car guys at the strip turn them 7000. I'm not a builder, but I have been told by several that over 850HP is living on borrowed time and the crank is the weak link. In fact these (2) builders have NEVER seen a GM rod fail outright....

I am not really worried much about the RPM.The MEF 3 is limited to 6300 no matter what .We set the rev limiter at 6200 and it was still making power up there . Its the TQ and HP I was wondering about .
