at least 12 ..most strainers accept hose size 16 or 1 1/8or1/4

Mine has the larger going to the strainer and coming out is 12

On my Hustler with a dedicated one inch through
hull pickup. I ran 1-1/4 hose to sea strainer
then steped down after the strainer to #10
feeding the intercooler. I then used #16 on the dump side.

I was skeptical running number 10 as feed but this
produced over 10lbs water pressure (measure at intercooler) at 80 plusMPH.
When you viewed the outlet at 50mph you would not beleave the amount of water dumping.

This was a dedicated system for the intercoolers.
I Chose Bigger dumps to eliminate pressure spikes.

you must find out what inside diameter the inlet fittings on your intercooler are. than hose accoedingly. no need for -16 if the i.d is say 5/8. big hose will get reduced to that diameter anyways so save the money.
