Default 496HO silly misc part numbers?

Not a real serious part question.....Looking for those 3 brass spacers that go between the engine cover and intake manifold. The engine cover mounts into them. They're not shown on mercruiserparts.com or StemToStern.com under engine cover or intake manifold parts. I want to replace a couple that getting worn and consistently loosening up.

Any idea of the part # or where I could look it up? This silly little thing is bugging me out.

Between the cover and intake there is a spacer (brass?) that provides the clearance between the two on the center forward screw just aft of the diffuser (item #2 in diagram). The spacer screws into the intake, then the cover screws in it. Not shown in the diagram above found on mercruiserparts.com

Here's a pic from the maintenance manual. I circled both the associated forward mounting screw, and the adapter in question.

I know exactly what you are talking about, but its not show anywhere in the micro fiche or the merc epc...

best thing to do would be to give merc a call direct

I believe the only way Merc sells those is as a kit piece when you order the entire cover. Not sure, but I think. If you contact the many OSO'ers here who have installed our kits, they should have lots of those brass extension spacers. They dont get reused on our manifolds. No need to hide that big ugly black mfactory manifold with our kits!

Thanks guys. I too am beginning to think used parts is the answer and not as simple logistically. Don't need another plastic cover or the cost of a whole kit. I've got those polished billett aftermarket covers from F&M Cowling and the plastics are in the shed.

Well if anyone reading this has a spare one or two non-stripped/worn laying around let me know.

Crap Will, I just went out and took some of the brass adapter/spacer but not of the covers themselves. Beings they're not cleaned/polished yet for spring might have influenced me not to.... You can see the underneath though.

Anyway, here is the little brass piece I'm talking about. I forgot there was a black tube spacer/s as well for all three mounts, but only the forward one has the extra brass spacer/adapter piece which is all I need. There's a double ended screw that goes into the intake, then the brass spacer screws over the other end which is seen in the other pic.

I'm hearing mayvbe the only way to get one new is order a whole plastic cover kit vice just that single peice?
