I am having a devil of a time finding a Harmonic Balancer installer tool for my 496HO. Most tools do not have the M16x1.5 threaded adapter for the crank. The Mac Tools TP1330 does but when I bought it I find that the installer nut sits well down in the balancer where only a socket can get to it. However the installer threaded rod protrudes out of this nut more and more as the balancer is installed such that the only socket that might work is a deep well which is not available in the 1 1/4 size of the nut (the biggest available is a 1 1/8 size).

How do you install the 496HO Harmonic Balancer when you install your kits?

Thanks

We have the Kent-Moore tool kit for the 496 (8.1L) motor. It has about 5 tools in it you need including a dampner remover, installer, crank seal installers and such. these new 496's are tricky little bastards aren't they?

Yes they are. Thanks as always for the info.

I have a set of brand new GM head bolts. Do you know if the white stuff on the new GM head bolts is a sealer or does one need to apply a separate thread sealer for the GM head bolts as well? I know you recommend the reusable ARP head bolts which come with bare threads and a sealer is needed with them for threads into fluid bearing passageways.
