Default cam break in ?

I am installing a new cam in my engine , is there a break in period for this change ?

flat tappet 2500 to 2800 rpms for 25 mins...do not let it idle at all during the breakin, there should be directions on your cam card, gm also makes a additive for cam break in call a gm dealer near you. good luck, ratman

I advise my customers to break the camshaft in during your initial run time in the boat if they are not dyno tuning. One of the best things for the camshaft is lots of oil splashing on it , one of the worst things for an engine is to run it without a load at 2000 + rpm for x amount of time. As soon as the engine is off the idle circuit of the carb it is into the primary main jet, pouring alot of fuel the engine is not burning. You can wash the oil off cylinder walls and hurt valve guides rapidly. Get all your adjustments made and run the boat easy at first. I would also change the break in oil within the first 5 hours to get the camshaft break in lube out of the engine.
