head gasket recommendation for 540
I just got my heads back and want to get the right gaskets for them. It is a N/A Gen VI 540. The gaskets that were on there before had round water passages and had trapped some garbage in the heads. I'm planning on using a sea strainer, but I'm wanting gaskets that have the bigger water passages (triangular vs. round).
*edit*
Part numbers would be a great help

Du,
I am not certain exactly where you want to trim the gaskets, but gaskets are designed to restrict water flow in certain areas and allow it in others. By messing with the design, you could cause hot spots in the cylinder head, or the block due to improper water flow. I would leave the gasket the way it was designed and try to keep the water clean.

Re: head gasket recommendation for 540
if I'm not mistaken, those gaskets are made to be used on Mk4 (small round holes) and Gen 5/6 blocks (larger triangular holes)
but you're probably right. any one have a number for the cometic gaskets?
