Has anyone used this Oil T-stat?
It opens at 215 degrees and is sized for -12 O-Ring fittings. Looks like a contender. http://www.cantonracingproducts.com/...ermostats.html |

Re: Canton Oil T-Stat
Hudson,
Everything Rat said and, "Have you used it in a Marine application? "Does your oil come up to temp quickly and does it stay steady or does it have a swing? What is the displacement and HP of your setup" Any reply is appreciated. RLW |

I just put them in my Cat.... let ya know if I ever get it finished.
TRICK Marine hooked me up. There coupled to massive coolers not visisble in picture. I can tell you it looks like a quality peace. I like the 215 temp right above the boiling point of water. Gerry |
Re: Canton Oil T-Stat
Russ,
Looks like a nice piece to me. I still havent run the boat with the new oil cooling system. I did run it on the hose in the driveway, but it never got up to temperature. I splash it first week of May. I'll let you know how it worked out. Vinny |

Vinny,
Keep us abreast of your testing results. You have a first rate system. Here's a pic of Vinny's new setup. Russ |
Re: Canton Oil T-Stat
RLW,
I the pic above it looks like the oil filter is part of the system/T-STAT? Or do you have to run hoses from the t-stat to the filter pad? JIM |
Re: Canton Oil T-Stat
You guys are too funny. Just wanted to know if you were looking to buy it or you were having a problem with it before I responded. I ran one of those for three years and had great sucess. Had a problem when I first bought it, the thermostat would not open, oil temps of 300+ Pulled thermostat and boiled it, found out it was no good. Bought a 210 degree stat and saw temps on guage of 240 before it would open and cycle back to 200 degrees. The guage was electric but I got used to it. Just a little scary watching the guage climb. Overall, i think it is a nice piece, I really liked changing the oil w/ no mess. Mount it high so you can get to the oil filter easily, no mess!!!

Re: Canton Oil T-Stat
Big Jim,
You do have to run hoses from the filter pad to the stat. Make sure you don't get the oil lines crossed or you will not have your oil being filtered. |
