Here is the deal: Older TRS drive and i need to remove it because the upper is frozen. I cannot for teh life of me remove the drive. I tried with 36" prybars and i got the drive to move about 1/4 inch on teh top and 1/2 on the bottom. When i pry the drive the exhaust tips move (so i am guessing that the engine is moving) I can pry it and then it slides back a bit. If the shaft stuck to the tranni? Any help appreciated.
thanks

try placing a 2x4 on top of the bell housing(tansom) and jerking the drive up works every time for me even the ones that the mtr mounts have dropped if that does not work try ajusting the mtr/ trans mounts a little

yes sir guys I can help you out. Had the same problem. One was so easy to take off the other one was stuck there... for hours and hours. shaft was stuck in tranni. standing behind the boat looking at the drive, you have a cap in front of you. Not the one on top, the one in front of you. Take it off. Unscrew the nut that holds the bearing and the shaft that goes in the tranni. You should be able to take it off but the shaft will stay stuck in the tranni. if you can't get it out, than do like me! take the engine and tranni off the boat, and bring it to your mecanic guy! Don't forget to drain the oil from the drive BEFORE doing all this! Hope it helps!

Kinda missing somthing, Once you get the drive off that way you have the universals still on the outside of the boat. How do you get the trani out if the shaft is frozen on?
thanks

If you look at the diagram, removing the nut will allow the drive to slide back with the shaft still in the trans/gimbal(including the u-joint), at least the drive will be off.

Nope, if the engine moves it is stuck in the splines of the trans, not the gimbal brg.

Last i checked teh gimbal bearing is attached to the tailstock on a TRS (transom housing ona Bravo) So it is possible that if it is stuck to the gimbal bearing the tailstock + trani+engine can move ?
