Default 540 camshaft selection

I'm trying to help a buddy chose a camshaft for his 540. He is stroking a hp 500 and I think with the added inches his camshaft should be changed as well. The compression is at 9 to 1 with a dart intake, steel heads and 800 holley. The motor has cmi headers. This is a bravo set up so it will need to idle. The boat is a 99 29' Fountain, former race boat, so fairly light with no cabin.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Doug

If he is spending for the stroker, will he spend a little more for alumn heads and then pick the cam.

A good person to speak with would be "rmbuilder" Bob Madara of Marine Kinetics (585) 654-8583. He has knowledge, experience, integrity and has helped several guys here with marine engine cam combinations.
