OK,

I just got back from my business trip and I made the following progress:

Picure 1 is the trim limit switch with the cover removed....looks like the contact points are a bit off. All screws where screwed on tight.

I loosend up the two bigger screws and rotated the assembly until they touched... now the up trim works along with the trailer switch...the trim down still does not work and there is no more adjustment left on the assembly :(

Can anyone make sense of this and/or does anyone see anything wrong in the attached pictures?

Any advise is appreciated... my boat slip is awaiting :drink:

Thanks,

Jamal

Re: Outdrive trim switch

The limit switch has no impact on the trim-down function. It sounds like your whole unit needs some attention.

Check the limit switch with an Ohmmeter. There will be two black leads conning from the outdrive to two watertight conections near the trimpump, where they connect to a purple and pur/wht lead. Seperate the watertight connections and check the limit switch (black leads) for continuity. You can also use a piece of wire to substitute for the limit switch to check the operation of the trim up by connnecting the two purple wires together and operating the trim switch.

As for trim down you need to check for a problem with operation of the trim-down relay on the trim pump bracket. It's the bottom relay and the green wire.

As for the trim limit switch, remove the copper center contact with the one screw and use an electronics cleaner spray in the grove. Clean the copper contact wiper also until bright.
