Default leaking intake gasket, alum heads

I just tore the motor down to pressure check a head. Put it back together with a MR Gasket intake gasket. I torqued it down at least 3 times . Aluminum heads and aluminum intake for a blower. I have green foam in both valve covers after start up in the drive way .. Im sure its the intake gasket leaking or I should say i assume. Is there a trick to torquing an aluminum intake to an aluminum head ? Is there a gasket preference? With or with out sealer ?Both exhaust sides are steaming like crazy .

There are no real secrets to torqueing the bolts. Just start from the center bolts and work your way out in a circle a few times over. Gaskets dont usually leak that quickly unless there is another problem. Where the heads angle milled? That may throw off the intake to head angles which can cause leaks. You may have to use a thick gasket.

How much water is in it ?does it show on the stick? it might be just condesation??

Like checkmate454mag said if the block and heads been cut much the angle may be off. I had to cut my intake .070 whats the gap on the china rail ??

Try a felpro gasket, glue it inplace so it doesent slip.

Is there a lot of corision around the water ports in the head and block??

Check the intake fit without gaskets as mentioned above, your situation may call for a thicker gasket or even two, assuming the angles are right.

Coat the gaskets with blue hylomar both sides, this will give you an excellent seal and help prevent corrosion. It's now available in a spray can. I use it on all water gasket surfaces, even after 3 years, you can just peal the gasket off. Awesome stuff.

RE set the timing today . Both motors are steaming about the same now.I ended up installing new risers on both motors while getting head checked .Gil with 3 inch rise about 18 inches long, alittle longer than average and I used an eddie marine S pipe to get under the swim platform . So end result 90 degrees down , drop 8 inches then 90 degrees out.I thinking the steam is caused by the 90 degree s turns . Maybe a little to much restriction. I installed the same intake gaskets as per removed. New of course. The old gaskets were like new and were were assemble with very little glue just to hold in place. I dont believe I have a fit up problem. I am trying to put the boat in the river today at a minimum to run on the trailer with good old river water , with an unlimited water supply to see if conditions change.
Today when I got the timing set correct , the water temp dropped 30 degrees , from 170 to about 125 on the hose. I am wondering if the timing could have caused all the condensation. 14 days till first poker run I need to get squared away. To replace the intake gasket is a big job with these BIG AS_ Blowers .So what do ya.ll think ?

Sounds like there is some possibility that you have an exhaust leaking water... Reversion perhaps? What RPM's are you idling at?

The best intake gasket I have found is for the HP500. It is fairly thick and will compress to make up for room between surfaces. The material is similar or the same as stock merc exhaust gaskets.
