Dumb Carb question!
With the engine running I was checking to watching to see at what RPM the throttle plates start to open on my 750 DP Deamon. When the plates are open shouldn't gas being coming out of the top rear barrels like the front?
I was watching it with the plates about half open 3,500 RPM and I can see no gas being dispensed  |
Re: Dumb Carb question!
Guessing the boat was in neutral.
In spite of the mechanical secondaries starting to open, there probably wasn'yt enough air flow to pull fuel from the secondary bowls. |
Re: Dumb Carb question!
Yes and on a trailer :D
The plates where about half way open. I still would have expected to see gas mixing with the air. |
Re: Dumb Carb question!
In my Scarab I rode in the engine compartment looking down the barrels just to see how much fuel was dropping and if there was any difference between them. It will be different on the water in gear because of load.Theres a lot of fuel at 3000-3500 coming out of the boosters when ya running across the lake.you can also listen to the engine .With the stelling exhaust it didn't get that hot to burn ya. Its pretty loud in there especially when you testing for knock/pinging under full load.I haven't tried it on the Hustler no room in there

Ya, that's an idea..
I could use the sun deck as a hydro-foil wing  |
Re: Dumb Carb question!
Take pictures if you get that boat "sailing".
BTW, Carter/edelbrock carbs have an additional circuit to provide fuel at partial secondary opening. It's below the throttle blades, so you dont see it. Not sure if Holley/Deamon do something similar. |
