I had one in my 26' Scarab. I bought it used from a guy that ran the piss out of it! I also ran the piss out of it for three seasons with no problems before selling the boat! I have been looking for a pair to put in my 29', so if you don't get them let me know! They are not much faster than the HP500 but the bling factor of a (dependable) blower motor is worth it to me!!!

My 525sc has been great and pretty much trouble free. I went through the top end at 350 hrs and all still looked real good. I changed to roller cam(731), replaced the springs, and a got a valve job.

I just fired mine yesterday for the first time in 7 months. It took about 5 seconds to fire up.

Do a search on 525sc. Lots of good info.

Had the pleasure of running a pair of 525 SC's for 7 years. Changed oil and filters every 25 hrs. and threw plugs in once a season. Period!!! Had chillers and boost upped to 7.5 lbs. and CMI Elbow Tops from day one, they never let me down!!! Sold the boat two seasons ago and they are still running strong. New owner had them checked out and dynoed them at 638 HP and was told by his engine guy to leave them alone and just run them, no issues whatsoever. Would trade my HP 500's for a pair any day. Hot Rod Mag wrote them up some years ago as the best, most reliable blower set up ever!!!

The motors are great, the blowers on the other hand are not real good pieces. Check the oil resevoirs for over full( fuel) or under full( seal gone). Seen several that way. Drop the belt and shake the pulley back and forth. If they have been low on oil for any period, the imput shaft splines wear away and you can hear the play in the shaft to driven gear coupling. The Blower shop has a kit with shaft, seals, gaskets, bearings and drive coupler for fair $
