We sell and use both Merc & Sierra, Never had any problems with Sierra and in some case look more quality then some of the Merc parts.
It all comes as a piece of mind and what you feel comfortable using, I wouldn't be worried to use Seirra.

Some aftermarket companies manufacture the name brand parts under contract. They obtain the rights to produce and market the same part under their name. Same part, same quality, lower price.

merc is owned by brunswick the pool table people
serria used to be owned by echlein the tune up people they are now owned by teleflex the steering people

merc contracts out the manufacture of parts
many serria parts are made by the same people just packaged under a different name
the only thing I have had problems with are serria shift cables other then that have never seen any problems
