steering hub removal
I purchased a platinum hub and steering wheel to replace the factory hub and white wheel on my velocity. I took the old wheel off, and then removed the locknut from the center of the old hub. I thought the hub would just pull right off. Well, it won't budge and I'm afraid of forcing it too much. I did stick a wrench in there and try to pry it with no luck. Am I doing this wrong? Is there a trick to removing hubs? I thought maybe some corrosion had bonded it together. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The shaft that the hub bolts to is tapered, when the nut is tightened is presses the hub onto the shaft. To remove it you will need a steering hub puller. I got one for 14 bucks at the local auto parts store when I did mine.

That one might work. I used this one.

None of the bolts that came with the kit fit my hub, but I had some that worked.

I just ran into the same issue. I sprayed a little WD40 on it (carefully), placed the nut back on and with a few light taps with a hammer it came right off. Mine is a 97 so just under 10 years of being on. I did have a puller and that was the next step if this failed.
