Bravo XZ drive Gods please help
Another summer and again my drive is leaking drive oil into my bilge, I have, pulled drive complete rebuild, when drive was off got the repair kit and replaced everything(except shifter cable), Replaced res bottle, replaced line to drive, replaced fittings,
Please help i am at a total loss, I swear it leaks oil from the drive shaft back into the boat, everyone says thats not possible but it is. I am on 3 summers of this 3 mechanics and just ready to give up. Please help if anyone can think of what is causing this.

Re: Bravo XZ drive Gods please help
I had an XR doing the same thing. A major rebuild by
a big name west coast drive outfit only temporarily helped.
Eventually pulled the drive off, took it to Larry's Engine and
Marine here in Tucson. Very simple, no one was completely
or fully installing the front seal. Larry fixed it.
So yes it is possible, and it is possible that the best minds
are challenged by this.

Re: Bravo XZ drive Gods please help
the input shaft seal on the X series drive if it is not exactly located correctly will rub and leak also when I build them even though merc coats the outer perimeter with a sealer I still use seal retainer as an extra precaution
then press test prior to filling
the leak could also be comming from the transom connection for the auto feed bottle

There is an improved retainer/seal assembly, 841026A2 that has a tiny lip to retain the seal. Will solve the problem.
