fountain27ho496, did you find a place to buy this besides Merc? I need one now and they are still out of stock. Say it will be July 17th or later. Or does anyone know? Also is the IAC on a 496 the same as a 496HO? I would think they would be.

Find a friend that knows someone the at Ford dealer. Many common components, are on many different brands. Sometimes the part has been improved upon, or superceded to reduce overall inventory. You could get out an Ohm meter and match resistance or even better find out all the info and match the part with another by finding out it's data. BBB

I happend to run into some nice pic's on the net while searching for a 496 IAC valve and I agree they look very similar as, but not exactly like, IAC's used on Ford engines.
So I found that the 496 IAC seems to be Hitachi made, sold under at least the Edelbrock brand as part # 36017, probably because it seems like the pcm-555 ecm is actually a MotoTron product.
Just my 2 c thoughts ...
