HP500 Oil Pressure

What should the oil pressure of my HP500 be at idle?

Re: HP500 Oil Pressure

25-35lbs hot after a run I think. My 454/420's with 300 hours are about 25lbs hot.

Yeh, any where from 20 to 30 psi is fine on a stock oil pump.

Re: HP500 Oil Pressure

After a long hard run mine will go down as far as 16-18 at an idle in gear. Get back on plane and it goes right back up to 40 or so.

Re: HP500 Oil Pressure

Well, at initial start up in the drive way with 25/ 40 oil I have 75 to 100 lbs. Can that be right? I redid the dash panesl which means I had to take all the gauges etc out. I am parinoid I wired something wrong. I do not remember what it was lawst year before I took everything apart.

Can this be right when cold?

If it's stock with low hours, I guess it could be. But it does sound a little high..
