Question Filling a keikhaffer trim pump through dipstick???

The trim tab pump only seems to have a small little dipstick to fill the resorvoir through unlike the drive pump, it doesn't have a large cap to fill through.

Trying to fill the tab pump through the dipstick isn't working very well, is there a breather plug somewhere? There's got t be an easier way.

Thanks!!!!

What has worked for me is a short length of plastic hose attached to a one quart plastic bottle that has a tapered plastic nipple (rear end lube bottles, etc).Just visit your local automotive store and cruise the isles to find one. The plastic dipstick is the breather. It has a vertical groove that acts as a vent. You tighten it and then back it out 1 1/2 turns if I recall the manual correctly. You run the tab down and then check the level. I hope this helps.

My neighbors son gave me a plastic bottle with an alum. nozzle that he used for his RC cars. He said that all of the hobby shops will have them for about $5-8. He even gave me one with a red anodized tube because he said it matched my boat.

I use an old fashioned oil can with the thumb pump. It has a very small tube end, can go anywhere. Home Depot has them.

for "on the water" fills when you dont have any of your "tools" at hand to use......i have had good luck by useing a small long shaft screwdriver and placing it into the dipstick hole....then tilt your fluid bottle against the screwdriver and let the oil pour down the shaft and into the pump....works good

Wally,
Thats sounds like the solution to another problem. When snowmobiling, and you need to take a leak. Due to "shinkage" and several layers of clothing, you may find your Johnson won't clear your gear. You may have to let your "stream" run off the end of your finger. Just another one of those helpful hints.
