hp500 oil filter recommendation
Would like to hear recommendations for oil filters for hp500's, I know the merc part # is 35-16595T 1, but its a pain to try to find the actual merc filter. Would rather buy something as good or better from auto parts store. What does everyone recommend?

Re: hp500 oil filter recommendation
NAPA #1794 Gold is what I use on my HP500EFI. Made by Wix for Napa, it is the interchange for a GM two quart truck filter. You get double the filtering media, and good flow from the increase in size, you will need about 8"s of clearance, due to increase in length. If your's mounts inverted like mine, it is not an issue.

AC Delco PF932
Holds an extra quart of oil and did very well in hydrocruisers oil filter comparisons for flow and filtration. Always better to have an extra quart of oil on hand :) |

I've ran the K&N 3002 for over a decade on 496's, great pressure, oil always clean at seasons end and easy to find locally
|
I've always ran the Wix 51060R with no issues. I have my personal engine apart and bearings look great but after freshening, I'll be going K&N. Watch the whole video.
