6s and 1000s
Lets say you have a boat (lets say a cig)
It has 1000s and #6s with fresh rebuilds, what is going to be the normal maintenance on these engines and drives, at what hours and what price.
Thanks

Re: 6s and 1000s
Randy, let me know when you talk to Mark at dog days, if you need anything let me know, 1,000's and 6's you should expext around 100 hours before freshen 4-6k, change oil every 20 hours use very good oil, change drive oil 50 hours, all big hp motors are expensive, blew 2 this year first was 21k second was 16k, just bad luck, see ya at the lake, jim

Is she running fat (safe for most builders ) and washing down the cylinders, is she a solid roller with big spring pressure, tons of boost etc, most are at that level.
Our 1000+hp cat motors are designed to run hundred of hrs, other than oil changes . With hydraulic rollers vrs solid, two stage copper/nickle inner coolers, twin 1050 3 circuit Quick Fuel carbs etc she is on the mild side.
You also need to expect to spend some money every season on your dry sump 6s as well, changing fluid a few times a season and having them gone over every season.. We just replaced pitted shafts, leaky seals after only 75 hrs. and we run in fresh water.
Good Luck!
