Who has built their own work bench? I need to build a few for the engine/drive room in the shop....They must be heavy duty because i will be mounting drive stands and vices to them. I was thinking 4x4s with a butcherblock top. Anyone have some plans or blueprints that have worked out nice??? pictures are good too.....Thanks!

No pictures, but we had a 4x16' bench made from 4" sq tubing and 2" thick butcher block. We used it for working on our 2k lb dies. Had an overhead I beam with a electric hoist. It was sweet and indestructable.

i biult one for my race shop out of 2"x4", and 2"x8" and 3/4" thick (4'x8') particle board for the top and the shelf. Its pretty damn strong. and cost me around $100 to biuld.
I knows i've had around 500lbs on it with no problems.
I attached some pics, they aren't great but they might give you an ideas of how to biuld em. You can either do no upper shelves )like mine) or the multi tiered extra shelves like my teamates

get a nailgun it made our benches go together super fast!
as for the cars they are formula 2000 cars. I run in a few different series. www.cooperseries.com is one (i run with them, when they run in conjunction with CHAMP Car) the other series is the hankook f2000championshipseries.com. I also run with SCCA club racing too! We have 5 of them in the shop 1 is mine, 1 is my teammates and 3 are customer cars.
