Newbie Question- Can I use a 90 Bravo one drive to replace a 96?

My bravo one went out on my 96 Baja and I was wondering, assuming the ratio is the same, can I use any year bravo (specificly a 1990) to replace it? The upper portion of the drive is shot and is pretty tore up- what usually causes this? The boat has about 500 hours on it and I will be selling it within the next few months to upgrade. Should I go with a drive shower on my next boat? Thanks in advance for all advice!

I don't see why you can't use it. Just don't sell it to anyone here on OSO.

Welcome to the board.

The 90 bravo isn't going to have the oil transfer port, but the 96 will.
If you are dumping it anyway, drill and tap the oil transfer port and put a pipe plug in it, or you'll have the biggest oil leak ever!

if you are talking about a complete drive swap, then there should be no problem, a drive shower is a good idea for any Bravo.

Mixing some year uppers and lowers have some considerations as mentioned above.
