Default Mobil 15w-50 question

Hey all, i just picked up a new (old) boat, the old owner has been running Mobil full syn. 15W-50, but has informed me that he can no longer find this oil in the area since the new extended mileage oil has been released. What should i do? I would like to stick with the oil that has been run in it for the last 130 hrs?

i run the mobil 1 5- 40 delvac and like it a lot. made for the absolute most severest duty... and at 40 hrs is clean as the day i put it in and "feels" perfect my motors are EFI so no extra fuel dumped in to contaminate the oil ... but, never the less, M1 full syn is my oil of choice in all apps.

Finally, after a few reformulations..the 15w-50 Mobil-1 Extended formulation is actually better than it's predecessor Redcap 15W-50.

That's the one to use..15W-50 Mobil-1 Goldcap.

After trying to track down the 5 qt. jugs at numerous Wal-Marts, I found out Mobil discontinued them. The best deal I can find is about 6.00 a quart. At that price I can get Amsoil 20-50.

Mobil is claiming 15K changing intervals for cars. I have a hard time believing that. As I recall they claimed the same thing 20 years ago. I changed the oil every 15K in my 302 mustang for 105K miles from new. The engine burned oil after that, so I always change it every 5K in my new vehicles.

How does the Gold cap compare to the V-twin?

I just bought 3 cases (18 quarts) of Mobile 1 15w 50 gold cap from NAPA Auto Parts for $5.68 per quart. You should be able to find it at your local NAPA store.
