I ended up cutting an intake flange off a junk head , drilled it and installed drill bushings. I bolt it to the head, and drill out holes using a split point drill bit and a pecking motion. This removes the material , then I use an aircraft spotface cutter with the same size pilot as the bolt hole and make a perfect seat.
I use layout die and bolt the intake flange to make sure seat angle is perfect.( Maybe a little overboard). No longer have a sloppy job nor make a mess and spend alot of time die grinding. I don't have to die grind at all. I grind off the casting numbers and stamp in Date and Tripps. BBB |

Artificially building up the naturally occuring oxide layer of alumina. Then sealing the pore in the middle of each microscopic hex with clothing die and then boiling the part for one hour. Hardcoat anodize is anodizing done is a refrigerated sulfuric acid bath instead of just the normal room temp. This way allows for a thicker, in this case harder layer apx 80 Rockwell hardness. It must be done perfectly, any chips or missed spots will allow crevice corrosion to get under and flake off the Anodized area. BBB |
