7.4L Carburetor Information Needed
Can anyone verify for me if the original Weber carburetor on a 1997 7.4L (300 HP) motor is a square bore carb or a spread bore carb. I'm trying to determine if this spacer takes a square bore to a spread bore or vice-versa. I'm assuming it takes a square bore to a spread bore as the intake manifold appears to be a stock Chevy truck manifold which I believe would have been a spread bore desgin to accomodate a Quadrajet. Thanks in advance!

Weber's are all square bore.
Your should have Weber with square to OE quadrajet adapter.
If you have a plate underneath your carb now, this is what you have.

Thanks guys. That is exactly what is on the motor I'm working on. Just wanted to make sure. At first glance looking at the adaptor it looks like it is upside down! This thread is realted to the other thread I have going on the Holley carb #. After pulling the Holley off last night, I saw the adapter and wanted to make sure the previous owner didn't flip it upside down in order for the Holley to work. Since the Weber was a square bore too, the adapter is indeed installed as it was from the factory. Did the original Weber use an o-ring for a gasket between it and the spacer? The spacer in question is grooved for an o-ring. There was no o-ring present under the Holley...just a standard base gasket. We are not going to go back to an original Weber carb. We are either going to insall and Edelbrock or Holley marine carb. In etiher application, do we use a standard base gasket for the carb purchased or do we go with the o-ring that the original Weber used? Thanks again guys for all the help!
