a buddy of mine's CMI's have cracked 3 times this season in his 06 39 topgun with 525's...the 3rd time cigarette told him he's beat...needless to say he's not happy. probably gonna go to stainless marine manifolds...lil heavier, less bling, but more durable and same perf numbers

Oh yeah, cust service and the quality control can't be beat.
I know of a boat that had a total of 8 repairs in one year, then bought a new set for one engine. New set arrives and one had a pinhole that shot water 5 feet up when the engine started!!!! The response from CMI? "Take it off and send it back, we'll fix it for you, good as new."   Happy to have Stainless Marine on my boat

When you mean cracking, do you mean leaking? If so, when were his 525's built? Sometime in 2005 they went to a "cool collar" where they don't leak anymore. He should be taking this up with CMI not Cigarette. 525EFI have a certain bolt pattern too, I don't think you can just stick another set of exhaust on there that isn't a Sport Tube header.

Re: Stainless Marine, aren't the manifolds aluminum? Won't salt water eat them up over time?

Doesn't CMI offer a warranty?

Two years on standard Elbow Top headers, one year for all other headers.

Sorry to hear about the issue. Any of the three distributors - Ateco, Teague or Trick should be able to help you out with determining if the area is repairable and get you the paperwork from CMI as Fred informed you.

They are a great product and are certainly are not any more or less prone to problems than any performance product. Most race boats, high end performance boats and Mercury Racing wouldn't be running them unless they were a great product.

Well, anyone with a 525 HAS to run them so, there ya are  Steve, I just had one of my Stainless Marines apart 2 weeks ago to replace a gasket (boys, don't use RTV on exhaust gaskets, thank you) and the manifold and riser looked perfect, very little pitting in the manifold and the riser looked brand new-they are 4 years old and have about 200 hours on them in brackish water for the last 3 years. I have been flushing regularly though.
