Go to a tool web site like Harbor Freight or Northern tool and look into a gantry. depending on the height of your boat this might work. Hope this helps

Most the Harbor Freight / Northern Tool Gantrys dont have enough height ... we went to a local marina and rented the lift . 65.00/hr included the operator .. we had every thing loose ...it took 35 mins ... was like 40.00 .. I gave the operator a 20.00 .... Also you can have a Wrecker come over and pay them to lift em out ...m

I envisioned fab'ing something like a swingset or one of those 10x20 canopies, but obviously stronger tubing for the legs, and maybe an aluminum square tube or I-beam on top.
How much does an all-iron big block weigh fully dressed with iron manifolds...1,000lbs? It wouldn't take much of a decently gusseted top tube/beam to hold that weight.
1.5in x 0.125 round tube is used in lots of car roll cages and they take a serious load before bending.
How about a 3x12 trailer bunk for the top beam?
I've been toying with ideas knowing that I'll have to pull mine some day and will ***** and moan at the $750/each they get around here...
Thanks,
Michael

How much ceiling height you have ? Are the trusses exposed ? I have thought about an Ibeam suspended across the trusses or better yet below them ...suspended .... then you could attatch some uprights to form a "H" beam to bear the load ... 6x6's .... they could be removed when the IBeam is not used ..... The key is having the Ibeam below the trusses so you can have a trolley to adjust from side to side.... and I guess move the boat for forward/aft movement ... In my case the beam will parallel the trusses ... so it can mounted above the trusses with 4x6's across the trusses to support the Ibeam .....Then the legs installed when required ....m
