Is this Smartcraft?
I would look at fuel first, see if the relay for the pump is powering up.
If you hear the warning horn in the dash at first that's a good sign the ECMs are getting power from their relays. If not, check for power to the ECM or ECM relays when ignition is switched on.
What puzzles me is that both motors do the same thing. That would seem to say a fuel issue, something supplying moth motors, might be most likely, so that's where I would go first, check power to pump relays, and from them at the relay or pumps for 3-5 seconds after turning the ignition on. If they power up then I might verify fuel pressure and volume at the injector rail. If good, eliminate fuel as a possibility, if not find out why. BTW I've seen pumps build pressure but with no fuel or fuel and air, so be sure you check the amount and that it's just gas, not gas and air. And as always, be extremely careful when dealing with fuel, fires happen but are almost always avoidable. So no sparks and be sure to keep rags handy to mop up, have plenty of ventilation.
It's good you have a simple consistent problem like that if it was intermittent it might be harder to find, you should find a simple cause for this.

No offense, but you did have the boat sitting in the water with sea-water reaching the sea-water pumps right? (No cutoff valves turned off? Sea-strainers OK and flowing?)
Or had them hooked to a hose with the water turned on?
(I have heard of folks that think a closed cooling system on an engine means you can run them without water supplied to the sea-water pump.)

Sir, just wanted to toss this at you, and trust me, had to learn the hard way, anyways i know a guy who had this same problem with some 525's, and as it turned out, it happened because his oil needed to be changed, somehow or another the motor knows when that oil has about 25 hrs on it, so merc told him to change his oil and see what happens, and sure enough he changed it and now he changes every 25 hrs, without fail, most people only change oil every 50 hrs, but on that motor it needs a more frequent change, so this may/or may not be the problem, if u have changed your oil recently, your probably ok, if not, might want to consider it!

From: west palm beach FL,
thank's i just changed oil and gas filter before i put it in the water . i am thinking some type of vapor lock .boat started up fine and ran for 2 minutes or so then shut down maybe it burned the gas in the lines and when it reached for the new gas threw the gas filter it sucked up some air . i did fill the gas filters with gas before the install .its just weird how both motors ran fine then at once they both shut down .
