You non believers should take a moment to read the links I posted, the tape I use is specifically formulated for both petroleum distillates and inert gases. White Teflon is another whole story, many have not been properly trained to use specific products and do screw things up.
The head bolt sealer is a very good product but also improperly used in most cases, 90% of the users apply it to the bolt only, a small dab should be put into each thread bore to be pushed along onto the threads. Many a block has been ruined buy not applying it properly, this is especially true with raw water cooled blocks that do not have the help of corrosion preventives in anti freeze.

I've used the blue stuff. It goes on really nice but that stuff is tough when you have to take somthing apart! I also found that it cracks when you take it apart and small pieces can fall into the fuel line. maybe I used a different brand but that's what I reember. I believe I first saw it being used by a guy who does air conditioning systems..

teflon tape in a no-no for sure. the special tape mentioned is as stated upon disassembly it cracks or can ruin the thread in which you are trying to seal, similiar to the Loctite thread sealing compound. for the last 10 years plus i have been using the liquid sealing compound which has teflon in it, which provides lubrication and reduces heating of the thread which commonly occurs during the instalation process on a pipe thread. also if the sealant becomes a contaminant, it usually will disolve instead of becoming debri which can due much more harm.

MOP; where do you get the yellow tape? Monstaaa which teflon liquid do you use?

If the main purpose is lubrication, why not moly or grease?

3m thread sealant, it is similiar to the g.m product except it has graphite.
its main porpose is to seal but the it also yoo lubricate.

I'm In The Performance Plumbing Business And I See Bad Teflon Tape Job's Everyday. Holley Was Told To Not Use Anything On Threads Because They Are All Metal To Metal Seals. We Use N-d 420350-50 On All Systems Without Any Problems. This Compound Is A Teflon Base With A Anti Galling Agent For Use On Stainless Steel Fittings. It Works On All Media's
Fuel,compressed Air,natural Gas, Oil, Water.

I am a steamfitter by trade, and have been in the piping business, for 35 years. Pipe dope is actually designed to be a thread lubricant, not a sealer, although some do help after they set up. The best single pipe dope we have used over the years is Loktite PST. It is a great antigalling dope used for Stainless steel and alloys. You cannot use it on PVC or CPVC. I believe the sealer that comes with ARP head bolts is infact, PST. The bad thing about it is the price, if you use a lot.
Remember what ever brand of liquid dope you use, you only put in on the male thread, and you should not have to use a lot. That is how you end up with the dope in the system.
