intercooled Whipples at 5500 rpm.I make 765 hp at 5500. I did one pull to 6000 and made 825 at 10 psi. I set rpm limit low so I can't get nuts with it. Mine idles at around 750-800

What about the generations and cam choices? Which generation is my Merlin II comparable to?!
Are there different generations of the Merlin II's as well as the GM blocks?! Can I really use an Gen VI cam in my block?! |

What about KE's special ground 114LSA cams on there web site?
What do you think of the characteristics with the 295-113008 and 112508 in idle, low and high rpms? Where will the peak HP be on the rpm curve? |

I think the 3008 is to big (Probably for 6500 rpm). It is LARGER than Crane 651 cam mentioned above. I think the 2508 is too small (smaller than stock 500EFI cam)
For what you are trying to do you need to look hard at this cam....this part # is for Gen VI...you need the grind for a Mark IV block..... http://cranecams.com/index.php?show=...41&lvl=2&prt=5 If you want custom grind for your application I would PM RMBuilder to give you a recommendation. |

A superchiller, KPM sea strainer and intercooler strainer, new valves, all new bearings, AN hoses and fittings, Gen III exhaust, Hardin Marines largest thermostatic oil cooler, piston rings and a bunch of other things.:evilb: All that is left is to finish the deal with RMBuilder for a new hyd roller cam, lifters and springs. :evilb: |

I dont think I would do a hydraulic roller in a blower. I think a hydraulic flat tappet is more reliable on a blower motor. A blower overcomes cam timing. In my opinion, I think you do not gain much from Hydraulic rollers with blowers but you put a l lot of strain on the roller. That increases failure and rebuild times. We have used just the larger B&M cams here for years on blower motors and they seem to work great. Getting too much cam blows the charge out the exhaust. It looks like the cam you have is very close to that B&M cam.
I too thought the same thing when we built my motors the first time but learned the harsh reality when I wiped out a cam lobe/lifter an hour after break/in... Once we got things squared away I ran the motors for two seasons but was always waiting for the cam to go away so I scrapped it and I'm going with rollers. :D |
Even Comp Cams recommends using diesel oils not only running in but constantly on their flat tappets.
They recommend Shell Rotella X. Itīs because Diesel oils still has the additives that protects engines still in them. |
Over the winter we made the switch from Hydraulic Flat Tappet over to Solid Roller and picked up 122 hp and over 90 ft. lbs of torque. :cool-smiley-011:
