600sci Stainless Coolant Reservoir Cylinders

1 Attachment(s)
Ok, Where can I get one of these polished stainless coolant reservoirs shown on the front motor in this picture?

Are these available somewhere or are these one off's and custom made?

If they are available do they come in kit form or is it a 300 trip to the hardware store plumbing project and hours to get it working right?

Anyone know?

You need to contact Joe at Sunsation (810-794-4888) to see if they are willing to distribute these to the general public. Their engineer, Dave Moriarty, designed these tanks as the headers they had CMI design for them interfered with the stock coolant tanks. In the picture you'll see only one has been installed but since the other stock reservoir was replaced and all F-4's with 600's or 700's come with these tanks as standard equipment. Here's another shot of them on 700's:

They are built at CMI, some applications require the header leaned in farther than the stock tank would allow.

Steve:

We do not offer a stainless reservoir. You might check with Livorsi
Marine or Teague Custom Marine. We would be happy to make one for you,
but I'm guessing it would be less expensive to buy something off the
shelf than it would be for us to design and build it.

We appreciate your interest and sorry we can not help.

Strike 1, I will try Sunsation next...

After several more phone calls you are right...

I will continue my efforts in that direction, and now I know who to talk to at CMI as well.

Thanks JRZ I appreciate your help...

Talked to Dave Moriarty at Sunsation. Heck of a nice guy and he pointed me in the right direction. He said CMI infact does make them and gave me the correct contact over there.

Sight glasses are not removed. They are on the tanks in Mental's boat. I've seen them personally up close many, many times. This first shot of Mental's engine compartment was taken early on when the tanks had just been made and they only had installed the one tank that had the interference problem with the headers. They soon after installed the second tank to balance out the look in the engine compartment even though the second tank was not necessary.

IMO, Dave is one of the absolute best people to work with, like all of the others at Sunsation. Glad he could help you out with who to contact. As far as the site glass, here is a better angle picture of the engine compartment, when finished, which shows the site glass along the side of the stainless tank.

These look outstanding compared to the standard Merc tanks. As far as clearance, this picture also gives you an idea of where the tank sits compared to the top of the engine. Then again, the 600 blower sits higher than a 525 would.

Aie Thank`s for the picture ....can you take some measurement ??? just to have a idea of how many quantity the reservoir can hold ??.....and if you have your boat near ...some closer shot of the patern of the hose...just to help me to figure how to made it :D ...and if i am lucky ..i will can be able to show you my work at the Sunsation Rally this next summer :drink:

The boat is with Sunsation right now, so I cannot take a picture. As far as the tank quantity, I bet it does not hold any more volume than the Merc plastic tanks. My guess is the tank is about 4-5 inches in diameter and 10 or so inches tall. Here is a picture that you can detach and xoom into that shows the hose hookup to the tank - pretty straight forward.

Just click on the picture above and open it, then save it after you open it, it will save it to the original size.

Yes i know ..but it's 1024 X 768......if you have full resolution like 2300 X 1700 (5 Megapixel ) it's going to help me to have more definition !!!!
Thank's to take time

I do not have a full res version of the picture. When it was taken I had the camera set in a compressed moderate mode so I would not have to resize the pictures.

Talked to Moriarty on some other items yesterday and we got into talking about this. The stainless tanks bolt right up to the housing that is there. Existing hoses, although one needs to be shortened, hook right up. You use the cap from the merc container and put it on the stainless container.

Thank`s John .... what i will do is take a 6 " inches stainless pipe ...and plug the bottom ...and for the top made it for fit with the Merc Cap ..... and after send the tank to chrome shop :D.... i will show you in the near futur the result ...
Have a good day
and if someone have a close picture of the tank ....feel free to post it here :D
