swim platform removal

I'd like to remove my swim platform so that I can repaint it. The last owner of the boat had removed it before and when he re-mounted it, he used 5200 on the threads and in the holes.

Whats the best way to get this thing off? Drill out the bolts?

It will come loose .. you just have to work at it ..make sure all the 5200 is cut away anywhere it is visible ..the Debond works but is slow ....WD40 will work too .. If you have the bracket type platform ...remove the bolts and then move the platform up and down but dont force it ...when you move the platform down you should be able to sqirt some Debond down the crevice ...go slow ...some people have put a heat gun on it to soften it up .... m

Pat fired it up on the bench last weekend, so all that is left is waiting for some warmer weather. Depending on Pat's schedule, we'll probably drop it in late March.

This platform wouldn't be nearly as bad to get off if some didn't use phillips screws on half of the mounting holes. You can't exactly get leverage with a screw driver on a screw head that spend a good portion of its life dunked in salt water.

Luckily, the main throughbolts are actually hex bolts.
