How much slip?
wondering how much prop slip is acceptable
i used a slip calculater on go-fast.com and mine is roughly 14% its a stock 454/330 , bravo one , 1.5 to one , 23 pitch mirage (not a plus) in a 24 foot boat (not a deep vee , but not a bass boat either , somewhere in between ) 1988 24 foot checkmate enforcer engine spins 4800 , no hesitation , and the boat goes 60 (that was the best , usually 58-59 the hull is nice and clean , no paint , no growth , i can shave in the reflection , the lower unit is very clean too , just the last 3 inches of the skeg broken off , but aside from brand new i'v rarely seen one that wasnt anything i forgot? thanks in advanced guys , your the best on the web |
I would say that 14% on non step V is pretty average. It would probably go down a little with a mirage plus prop.

thanks , next step is to find a used Mirage +

I have a 23P Mirage Plus....
|
I think the 25p would be a lil overpropped for my stock motor
but tell me how much you want for the 23p mirage + Matt , i'm interested |
A 25" Mirage plus behaves like a 25.5" or 26" non plus
|
Keep in mind that a Mirage Plus will bring the RPM down quite a bit compared to that of a Mirage of the same pitch. So you will need to drop down in pitch to maintain RPM of the 23P Mirage you have now.

Yep, a mirage plus will drop your rpms about 200 or so, but will maintain the same speed. It has a little better bite.
BTW, get a new skeg welded on. Its what steers the boat. |
It's just the lower 2 inches of the skeg , theres still alot left
and the drop to 4600 rpm would not be hateful , i'm guessing the diff. between mirage and mirage plus is the plus is a cupped prop? and a 25p cupped would act like a 26 or 27 and would beat my engine and drive up , dont want that thanks everyone for the great feedback |
