I bought some magic erasers to try. Asboslutely amazing. Told the wife the only time I remember something working that good was years ago on my first boat. I used "bleach white" the white wall tire cleaner. Lasted about another season then the vinyl fell apart. Not good on vinyl I guess

I'll be really interested in what you find out Downtown42. I'd love to keep using these suckers!

A couple days later I was told to try the Magic Erasers......you could see where I left off when I stopped 1/2 way through. Use small amounts of cleaner along with the Erasers, Spray 9 cut significantly or even Windex cleaners will help the Erasers clean even more quickly. I will use nothing else on my vinyl from now on!!!!!

I agree 100%

no doubt from the brothers, Magic is the cats a$$. I get nervous using a product for showers and ceramic tile and nothing mentions vinyl in the applications.

I just don't want my seats crumbling in 5 yrs.

Downtown42 04-11-2007 12:45 PM

I knew it!!! Just got the reply back from Procter and G and the tech said continued use will eventually disolve the seats right down to the springs. Have fun dummies!!!

It's good to hear from you.

The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser can be used on virtually all surfaces
found in your household, including: walls, floors, doors,
appliances, etc. It is ok for vinyl, but use light pressure. If
it has a shiny finish, it may remove the finish if scrubbing
hard.

I hope this helps!

For technical support re: Mr Clean Magic Eraser.
Alot of people use your product to clean vinyl seats on a boat.
Do you know of any harmful effects that could damage vinyl if
used over time? Thank you, Dave

As will I!

Thanks everyone! I have tried everything. Looks like this is the answer!

US1 Fountain 04-11-2007 03:53 PM

Dave, don't use it on your leather cabin seatings. The erasers will remove the white dye, easily.

Downtown42 04-11-2007 09:04 PM

ok. tnks

Thanks DT42, that is the answer I wanted to see about the magic erasers. Those things even took off a slight yellow water line from last fall. Amazing!

Yep, they are great.

Just wanted to share a word of caution about SoftScrub w/ Bleach. Although I loved the results, after using it for sometime here and there I could tell it was beginning to dry out the seats. The worst part was (this was in a Doral years ago) that some of the cleaner got between the seat being cleaned and the gel coat support for it underneath. I guess I didn't spray it off in time and it caused large blisters in the gel coat that never went away. Luckily this was hidden by the seat but everytime I opened the seat they were there. Just a tip so someone doesn't make the same mistake I made.

I have been using West Marine vinyl cleaner applied to Magic Erasers and then following up with 303. The seats look new still (this is in a Baja that is not quite 2 years old - 380 hrs and continuous use in the sun and saltwater of SW FL).

I called Stephanie McLeod at McLeod Interiors and she said do not use the Magic erasers.it was bad for the vinyl. I guess it strips the vinyl? She/Mcleod recommended Boi_Kleen products.I ordered some for the hell of it just to try to see if it will clean as good as the Magic erasers,Will see:eek:

The magic erasers sure work good though:drink:

Ok, I WAS WRONG!!! Here it is after experimenting it to death.
Mr Clean Magic erasers used with full strength simple Green. It WILL look like new, hands down, no question, period, end of story!!!

Simple Green is caustic! Loaded with alkalides. Don't believe me, use it bare handed for about 10-15 minutes, it will burn your skin and peel off in about 4 days. take a batch of it and dump it on your grass(nothing will grow there again, nothing). It will eat the powder coating off anything, let a part soak in full strength for two weeks. Pull the part out = bare metal. Now think what it is going to do the thread that is stiched into your vinyl.

That is false!
I've used it for 8 years on the same vinyl, still showroom new, no caustic effects whatsoever. I also use it to detail leather and vinyl in cars and again, no problem.

It does have a slight abrasive to the pad, that is what wears down as you use it.

Downtown42 04-27-2007 09:00 AM

I'll be Magic'ing in a few hours.

that damn Mr Clean

NoQuarter 04-27-2007 09:14 AM

I just finished using the Magic Erasers (never heard of them until this thread). Man they work good! Then I sealed the vinyl with Vinylex Protectant.

My vinyl looks absolutely brand new!

Great thread!
