Fuel pump line ?
 

What type of line are you supposed to use for the "burst" line, the one in case of diaphragm burst? Do you have to run it to the vacuum? Or where else can you run it?

Do not run it to vacuum. Do a search on the subject. It goes to the flame arrestor.

Use vinyl tubing and run it to the flame arrestor.

If we are talking about a fuel pump diaphram, it is supposed to go to the vent line running into to the top of the venturis on a marine carb .

Problem is, there is no such line on Marine Barry Grant or Marine Holleys.

Is it kosher to run it to the outside of a K&N arrestor like below?

Those outside fitting are for the oil breather lines from the valve covers....if you ran it like that and the fuel pump burst it would soak the filter starting from the outside and probably spill over and outside onto a hot engine...and probably start on fire!!
Go to NAPA or some other auto store and get yourself a small stainless brake line 1/8" and shove it through the filter element so its over the throat of the carb and attach you line from the pump to the tube...you can zip-tie it to another vacuum line on the engine si it doesnt pull out and youll be ok.....the whole point of this is to choke the engine dead when the diaphram bursts so it wont go anywhere else outside the engine.

They use to come on the Barry grant pumps.



The hose you can buy at a lawn mower place ,they have it on rolls .Its kinda clear green in color

All I can find on my new BG is the big one, and two small vac lines. one is below the butterflies. the other is above, for a vac advance, or related device.

Looks like I cobble something together from the flame arrestor base plate (K&N)

I was talking about the fuel pump,I might of got mixed up ,you were talking a bout the carb ,the line doesent go to the carb


the line from the fuel pump goes to to the flame arrestor . it is not a vac line , the port on the fuel pump is for it the fuel pump diripham bust it doesn't fill the motor with fuel it will puke into the line and run into the flamearestor.

The K&N doesn't have a provison for it, so I will put an adapter on the baseplate and bend some tubing so it will point down the carb throat.

That way, if it ever does burst, it could washdown the cylinders and destroy the motor:eek:

I'm half tempted to just run the line so it would dump into the water. :drink:
