Default 496 HO, closed cooling System?

I think I read somwhere that the 496 had a closed cooling system. does that mean that it does not have a water pick - up and pull water from the lake etc .... ???

A 496 HO still uses a sea water pump. The sea water does not circulate in the block and heads. It goes to a heat exchanger which cools the coolant for the engine.
