Procharged 496 cooling
I was wondering what other guys are running for water temp on there procharged engines. I have the 496 with closed cooling running just under 190 in lake michigan in late april. Seems kinda high but let me know what you all are running

That's about 30 degrees above normal I would say that is a problem. What was the lake temp 50? How many hours does the boat have on it? You may want to check your heat excanger for clogged tubes. If you have a few hours the rubber gaskets on the ends of the heat exchanger may be blocking the flow as well. Are you sure your temp gauge is accurate? Could be as simple as a bad thermostat.

Yes check your heat exchanger & impeller.. If the impeller launched a little be sure to back flush the coolers to get the impeller bits out.. Jamie / Lakeside

Beware
I had the same accurance with a Merc 575SCI and it was deprise in my heat exchanger. Unfortunately I found out that 30 degrees above normal will melt your motor down after it happened. Bob Teague told me 200 degrees will kill your motor and it killed mine. I melted my block and head! Find out the problem before you cost yourself $10k. Mine is still in the shop.
