Merc. used 800cfm Holley on the HP500.
|
is there any advantage to use 850 cfm electric choke holleys ??
|
No, bigger is not better, unless you plan to make upgrades in the future, electric chokes are not needed either.

The carb off an original HP 500 was number 9022. I have another one I bought that is also listed as a 800 cfm marine carb. I have one of each. Holley carbs are listed on this site.

A buddy just built 540's out of his carbed 500's. I'm sure he'd make you a good deal on his stock carb's since he had to go bigger. PM "runnin gun" here on OSO for the details and tell him I told you to contact him.

i remember last year when i bought the carb for my other 35 fountain, it came in with the choke electric etc....plugged the wires and it was easy... i dont understand why the originals have the electric chokes and the ones holley sells dont.. is everyone sure the 9022 is what is needed ? and not the 850 cfm elec choke ? |
You do not need a choke on a boat. get the 800cfm's or HP830's.
