I wasn't ignoring your response at all Jayhawk and I certainly appreciate your input.I have brought the boat home from the shop and will fix it myself.I have run out of confidence in them.
How would I determine if the fitting on the starboard exhaust is bottoming out and how much would you suggest I cut off that fitting? Difficult question I know.Thank you.

I didn't mean to sound like I was getting on your case, it is just that the symptoms you are describing are so familiar. To check the fitting, take it out of the manifold. If it is bottoming out, there will probably be a circular mark on the inner manifold. That was the case with ours. You could check by running it on the hose and then loosen the fitting up to see if water flow improves. As far as how much to cut off, cut off enough to get the water flow and still have enough threads to hold the fitting securely. How's that for an answer. I can't guarantee that this is the problem, but with the symptoms you describe, I wouldn't hesitate to bet money on it.
Do you have any pictures or the part number of your manifold system? Our Stainless Marine set up had a fitting at the front of the manifold that connected to the riser via a hose. If yours is similar, I would bet that's where the problem is. We actually lost an engine due to detonation in the No. 2 cylinder right where the water blockage was. We probably could have saved the engine if my buddy had been smart enough to not run it while it wasn't right. We built a new engine and it did the same exact thing again. After my 4th round of phone calls to SM, they finally told me that "sometimes those fittings are too long". Well, at least it was in time to save the second engine. I had spoken with them several times even during the problem with the first engine, and they didn't see fit to let me in on that little secret until we had purchased all the accessories they told us might solve the problem!
Good luck, and if you remove the fittings, and this is the trouble, you should see it right away.

Here's a thread where someone talked about a similar problem with a powerflow. There is a pic also. Maybe look into this as well.

That makes sense and would be real easy to tell if it is the problem...........Sometimes the steel and brass fittings are a little long, i prefer the aeroquipp ones myself........
if ya can post some pics of how your exhaust is plumbed....

Problem solved guys.Worked on the boat myself today and found pieces of what look like impeller in the thermostat housing and the cool fuel was being obstructed with black muck.
Took the boat out today and ran just fine. The temp was 165 to 170 and the exhaust risers were just the right temp too.I will never go back to that marina and spend 100.00 an hour for something that I should have done myself. Thanks all who responed to offer assistence.
