good anti theft idea ?

just got an e mail from hardin... something about a "Hide a Helm" ... it lets you take the sterring wheel off when you leave the boat... which got me thinking ( stand back)
that really isn't a bad idea at all.... and couldn't you just use one of the nascar or other type of steering wheel quick release to do the same thing ? they are only 65 $

not sure how effective itd be around here.. seems like most boats are just towed off or pulled away on a trailer. But it would certainly help me get in behind the wheel with my standard set bolsters.

Removable wheel is a good idea, but all they need is a pair of vice grips. Clamp it on the shaft and off they go.
I'd look into an ignition or starter disabling device. Even a hidden swith to cut power to the coils. If it won't start, it won't move. Thieves won't spend time figuring out why it won't start.
