Gonna buy a 850 with mech secondarys for my 509 engine project. Demon or Holley? Apples to Apples? I really dont like the look of marine carbs with the dull finish. Do either offer the marine carb in a polished finish? Thanks, Dave

509 CID 10:1 CR Victor Junior intake, AFR 305 heads, camshaft to come from RMBuilder but less than 240 duration and around 600 lift i am guessing. 5500 RPM max. Go fast and family boating. Just talked to Barry Grant carbs and they said 850 CFM with mechanical secondaries and also talked to holley and they said 750 CFM with vacuum secondaries. Barry Grant was WAY more precise in their question even asking what kind of outdrive, drive ratio, weight of boat, type of boat, etc. I dont have a boat right now but plan on a 25 foot or larger cat/deck style boat like the Domn8er 25 deck. If i do go with an 850 carb does it really matter whether it is the holley or demon. the reason i ask is that i can get a very good price on the 80443 Holley compared to the Demon. Thanks, Dave

Doug, did i just talk to you on the BG tech line? If so, i just wanted to say that your precision in your questioning about my motor specs really impressed me over what Holley tech asked me. I dont know the difference between BG or Holley only that the Holley is less expensive and i am on a budget. I'm in talks with another OSO member right now with a used BG carb he has for sale with just 5 hours.
