160 at idle.. 180-185 after torturing it and the throttle.

170 all day long

Even running wide open I never see more than 171, at normal cruise 4000 rpm (70 mph) they are 161 and 163 I guess due to variations in the thermostats. Down here in Miami the seawater gets up to 88 degrees in the summer and they still stay the same. In the winter when the water is 65 degrees I will see 157 and 159 at cruise.

Do you happen to know your water pressure? Maybe you have less water moving through the engines than me and that would result in your higher "normal" temp.

Closed cooling remember, always a little hotter for some reason even tho the same thermostats.

I have 496's and they are right around 160. (closed cooled)
