We are also an Earls distributer and use the same approach. Yes, the Ano-Tuff IS hard anodized (as apposed to decorative anodizing which is what many of the other manufacturers use)and will hold up just fine in salt or fresh water environments.

First We Rap The Fitting With Two Layers Of Good 3m Masking Tape. We Then Put This In A Aluminun Soft Jaw . On A Size #12 We Start The Fitting In The Soft Jaw And Finish With The B-nut In A Line Wrench, This Holds Better . Also Earls Makes Ano-tuff Hard Anodized,we Have Found This To Be The Same As Stainless On Our Salt Spray Test.

i have the earl's swivel seals...

i have the soft jaws....

what is the b nut ? (i'm stupid on this)...

you have the end that slips on the hose (female)..

then the male end that is inserted into the hose...

then you tighten...

is the b nut the other nut that is part of the fitting ..

Sears sells some locking pliers that have a plactic piece that slips over the jaws to protect what you are working on.

I use the Earl's anotuff and wrap anything going into the soft vase with strapping tape and place strapping tape on the inside of all wrenches. The tape needs constant replacement though.

PITA but it works

Below is a link to a AN guide I scanned. It is a large .pdf file (72 meg), but well worth the download. It has a section addressing installation procedure. It is the most comprehensive resource I have come across.

Open72,

The link is up and running, available for download. Give it another try. Perhaps the security settings are prohibiting the download. I cannot email the file as the packet size is too large. If you cant pull it off Mediafire i can possibly scan it in another format or email in parts. Let me know as this is definitely a must have if you are working with -AN.

Regards,

Bob
