I seem to remember from the oil filter study that the wix outflowed the m1 filter. I bought them both and the wix has 6 intake holes and the m1 has 8. I searched and couldn't find the info.Which one is best for flow? I'm not worried so much about filtration because if it ain't flowing it's bypassing.

flow rate has nothing to do w/ the number of holes in the inlet... just do the math. the area of the inlet holes is 5 times what the oil lines or passages are... what DOES make a difference if the filter medium... how many microns the material passes vs how many square inches of material... a 5 micron filter offers 4 times as much restriction as a 20 micron filter... unless the 5 micron filter has 4 times as many square inches of material... then they are the same.
you have two ways of measuring flow rate....
1) actually measure it... both the flow and the pressure drop at near burst pressure.....
2) find out what the micron rating is of the material and then cut it apart and see how much material there is.
the filter you want is the one that filters the finest and has the most area... an oil filter made out of window screen will flow like hell ... it just wont catch anything...
