Default Mercruiser 383 swap

Hey guys wondering if anyone out there has actually done a 454 to 383 swap, using the Merc remanufactured 383.? Performance increased / decreased?
Any help appreciated.

After reading all that im dying to see what the final post-break in numbers were. From what ive been reading the 383 Mag has ruled out the 454 in every single engine setup ive seen. Do you guys know of anyone who has done this swap on a larger twin engine setup with good results as well? Im assuming results would be similar?

I know I'm hoping he'll post some real numbers soon.

I can tell you I had twin small blocks 350 on my Pantera 28' and they were awesome as far as overall weight and balance versus big blocks. In a twin set up like yours I wouldn't even think about it twice. If it were a single that's different, but you'll be ok..

Sorry forgot to ask... are you going to keep the TRS set up or switch to the Bravo 383 MPI package?

I think im going to keep the TRS for now so I can spend money on other things which I NEED like motors and all the glass work im doing. My transom seems to be solid and I dont see the point of cutting new holes when the konrads are a direct bolt on. It seems the Konrad drives are proving superior to the bravos, So when the time comes I think thats the right direction for me to go. (If for some reason I have a TON of extra cash I would LOVE to throw some surface drives back there and see how that goes with a lightend hull and the twin 383's!!! But that my friend is just a dream )
