Please shed some light on this! I was reading a thread in another forum and somebody stated that with all things being equal ( lenth, motors, weight, etc.) a stepped hull is no faster than a traditional style and you lose handling especially in turns. If this was true why do boat companies keep making these hulls?

power for power in the same length a stepped hull is and will always be faster.

Stepped hulls are always faster, some handle turns better than others. Some old school builders and there costumers that don't have stepped hulls will tell a different story.

Whatever you read is not correct. Stepped hulls are 5-10%faster.

Stepped hulls are to dangerouse for you stick with pontoon boats.

stepped hulls are without a doubt faster than a flat bottom boat

The new pontoon boats with steps are even worse. Spill your cocktail everytime....

Guy I know out of state just built a customer a pontoon boat with a supercharged LS1. I'm told the thing runs 75!!! I'm still waiting for photos!

theres a pontoon boat with twin 300x's that runs over 100

oh and steped bottoms are faster. usually 8 - 10 from same manufacturer

Just out of curiosity, is it the fact that they are faster, cause the steps or that newer boats have a higher X dem. I mean most of the pics you see there isn't very much of the boat in the water and the steps are exposed, same as a flat v.. I dunno just thought I would ask, not trying to start a pisser.
